Guest Lecture on “Radiation Units Measurement and Safety Aspects”

“Everybody is exposed to radiation that is a little bit more or less. There are allowable limits for radiation going”
– Mr. P T Raghuram, Senior Scientific Officer, Department of Chemical Engineering, IISC Bangalore

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on “Radiation Units Measurement and Safety Aspects” on 23.08.2017 through Extension Lecture Programme 2017-2018, Centre for Continuing Education, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Mr. P T Raghuram, Senior Scientific Officer, Department of Chemical Engineering, IISC Bangalore delivered the lecture.
Mr. P T Raghuram has more than 40 years of experience in ISRO –Trivandrum, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. His major interests in gas liquid reactions in Ejector systems. Using experiments and modelling, he designed and analyzed ejector systems for bubble size, holdup and interfacial area. His other interests lie in demonstration of experiments to students. He believes that Simple experiments are set up to enable students to understand the fundamentals and develop an interest in research.
With simple examples, he explained about the importance of radiation and how radiation can be measured from the human body. And also he briefs about the how radiation effects can be used to solve big problems.
More than 80 students from various departments actively participated and learned about the importance of Radiation.
